Marc Beckmann has been a documentary photographer for almost 20 years. He has worked as a photographer, with publications and commissions for magazines such as Stern, Der Spiegel, Brigitte, GEO, DU, FAZ and many others, as well as for institutional clients and companies.
In recent years, his work has been shown at CO Berlin, the Münchner Stadtmuseum (Munich City Museum), the Goethe-Institut in Washington, D.C., and other places. Marc was a member of the "Ostkreuz Agency" and "Agentur Focus" and has been nominated several times for the Joop Swart Masterclass.
He earned his diploma in 2006 at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences with a work on the social importance of the coca plant in Bolivia. Over a 12-year period, Marc worked on the project “Jahrestage” (Anniversaries), investigating the identity-forming character of world-historical events. For him, working on a personal project over a long period of time is essential and the prerequisite for being able to engage with a topic both in terms of content and visually.
Marc is a passionate bird watcher, and he can occasionally be caught staring at a bush for minutes at a time. Born in Peru and raised in East Westphalia, Marc lives with his family in the southwest of Berlin.
